Jules Johnson is a Texas criminal defense attorney and Senior Trial Attorney at Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys. With more than two decades of experience, Jules has served as a prosecutor, state and federal public defender, private criminal defense lawyer, and law firm owner. His diverse background provides him with a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice system and the strategies used by both prosecutors and defense attorneys.

Jules earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Texas Southern University before receiving his Juris Doctor from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University. He is licensed to practice law in Texas and is admitted to the United States District Courts for the Southern District of Texas and the Northern District of Florida.

Before joining Michael & Associates, Jules served as Chief of the Civil Rights Division at the Harris County District Attorney's Office, where he supervised a team of attorneys and investigators while prosecuting complex criminal cases. Earlier in his career, he worked as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney in Brazoria County, giving him firsthand knowledge of how prosecutors evaluate evidence, determine charges, negotiate plea agreements, and prepare cases for trial.

Jules also brings substantial experience defending individuals accused of serious crimes. He served as both a federal public defender for the Southern District of Texas and an assistant public defender in Harris County, representing clients facing felony and misdemeanor charges in state and federal court. In addition, he owned and managed his own criminal defense practice, representing clients in criminal law, corporate defense, and personal injury matters.

Having worked on both sides of the courtroom, Jules understands how criminal cases are investigated, charged, litigated, and resolved. He uses that experience to identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, anticipate opposing strategies, negotiate favorable outcomes when appropriate, and prepare every case as though it will proceed to trial.

Outside the courtroom, Jules is a devoted husband and father of two. He is an accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and a first-degree black belt under Pablo Silva. A former world champion and multi-time American National Champion, Jules continues to compete while bringing the same discipline, preparation, and competitive mindset to his work as a criminal defense attorney that has driven his success on the mats.

Whether defending a misdemeanor or a complex felony prosecution, he provides clients with practical guidance, thorough preparation, and aggressive courtroom advocacy aimed at achieving the best possible outcome.
