DWI in Hutto is a Serious Problem
Let Us Solve It

A DWI Arrest in Hutto Can Be Expensive

Just because you aren't the first person to be arrested for DWI in Hutto, you still need to act quickly with a great defense team by your side.

The state of Texas and the courts in Williamson County can impose pretty severe fines, penalties, and extended incarceration for this offense.  A person arrested with no prior offenses still faces a fine of nearly $2,000 and spends as many as six months in jail.  If you are caught again the penalties will increase to being a $4,000 fine and as many as twelve months in jail.

If you are unfortunate enough to be arrested a third time?  You are charged with a felony and face up to ten years in state prison, and fines as high as $10,000.

A license suspension also comes into play, and it will make it much harder to hold down a good paying job or get to work. You also could have a permanent record that makes it hard to pass a credit check for a new home or other life events.

There can also be higher costs associated with charges stemming from property damage, or child endangerment among other infractions.

This is a Serious Mistake, Don't Let it Ruin You

Others have made the same error and bounced back. You can too. That said you have to remember some things.

Incarceration, hefty cash penalties, and reputation aren't the only costs here.  Your driver's license is at risk of being suspended. Sometimes for over two years. It's important to keep in mind that having a legal team in place to fight against that penalty alone will pay for itself when the time comes that you need to get to work in the morning.

The risks of not having a great legal team are too high for you to chance. Make sure the right people are in your corner, fighting for you.

Driving While Intoxicated in Hutto

In Hutto, the Texas legal standard applies, and that is .08% or higher while behind the wheel means that you risk DWI arrest. That measurement of your blood alcohol level is the legal standard Williamson County follows.

The main things that affect your BAC are your height, weight, and your sex. The amount of time that has gone by since you stopped drinking will determine your overall BAC according to those physical parameters.

In Hutto, the penalties vary based on how many offenses you have had.

1st Offense

  • As high as a $2,000 fine
  • Up to six months in jail, with 3 days minimum
  • Suspension of your license for as long as a year

2nd Offense

  • As high as a $4,000 fine
  • 1 month to a year in jail
  • Suspension of your license for as long as two years

3rd Offense

  • $10,000 fine
  • As many as 10 years in state prison
  • Suspension of your license for as long as two years

Child endangerment guidelines will apply if there were underage passengers:

  • Increased penalties up to $10,000
  • As many as two years in jail
  • Six more months of driver's license suspension

Pull over immediately. Running from officers will only make the situation worse and lead to felony charges.

When the police come up to the window and ask for your paperwork, let them know where you are going to reach. Don't make aggressive movements or be disrespectful.

Just repy "No Sir" or "No Ma'am" when they ask if you know why you were stopped.  An officer has to establish justification for the stop.  Don't take away one of your legal defenses in court by admitting there was a reason for the stop.

You can refuse a test from an officer. You are on bodycam, so respectfully reply that you prefer to get the advice of your lawyer before taking part in the tests, and ask if you can call your lawyer at the soonest opportunity.

If the officer suspects slurred speech, alcohol on your breath, or bloodshot eyes, they will possibly arrest you on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.  If you are arrested, you will likely be asked to take a blood test or breathalyzer to check your intoxication level.  Refusal means you will have your license suspended, but failing the test also means it would be suspended. The lawyers will help you fight that anyway.

You can be ordered to allow blood to be drawn, but only after they get a warrant and that might take quite a bit of time.

Never participate in questioning that will incriminate you. As to speak with your lawyer right away.

Mounting a rapid and strong defense is vital to you coming out the other side of this process whole and happy. Make sure you have a competent lawyer in your corner to fight alongside you.
