Driving While Intoxicated in Denton
In Denton, Denton County, and all of Texas, you can be charged with a DWI if your blood alcohol content is higher than the legal limit.
The limit isn't based on how many drinks a person has had or whether or not they were even driving well. You could be the perfect driver even at the legal limit but still face consequences if caught.
The limit is 0.08% or higher. This means that your blood is made up of 0.08% alcohol at the time of your breathalyzer or blood test. This number is picked as this is when most people show enough impairment from their drinking to make them a possible danger behind the wheel.

The officer might arrest you if you're showing any obvious signs of intoxication. This is a bit more serious than just being let go, but have no fear, as there are still ways to fight any possible charges that occur.
Before they charge you, they might want to get you to take a test. At this point, you'll be offered a breathalyzer again or a blood test to find out what your BAC is. You can refuse these tests at the cost of your license being suspended. If you take the tests, though, you can still have it suspended if you fail.
The only test you will have to take for sure is one with a warrant. This doesn't always happen due to time constraints, but if it does, you must comply.
No matter how good or bad things go, remember that your lawyer will defend you. Be sure to be as polite as possible when dealing with the officers as you may be recorded and, even if not, being polite will only help you with your day in court. You also need to be silent when questioned, particularly if you're asked about why you were pulled over. Wait until you have access to your lawyer for advice on what to do or say.
Never plead guilty or go in without putting up a fight. A lawyer might seem expensive at first, but if you're facing $2,000 or $10,000 fines, you'll be happy you hired one when you only have to pay their fees due to your case getting dismissed.
